Origin of the Minotaur

In Greek mythology, the Minotaur, is a legendary monster of Crete that had the body of a man and the head of a bull.

It was the offspring of Pasiphaë, the wife of Minos, and a snow-white bull sent to Minos by the god Poseidon. Pasiphaë nursed the Minotaur until he grew in size and became too ferocious to look after. Minos, outraged that the child couldn’t be controlled and turned into a weapon, trapped the demi-god in a gigantic maze-like labyrinth underground.

In order to show that his power was absolute, every nine years Minos would execute seven youths and seven maidens by throwing them into the labyrinth to be devoured by the Minotaur.

After 27 years of being trapped in the labyrinth and starved by Minos, only feasting on the blood and bone of the innocent every nine years, Greek mythology says that the Minotaur was betrayed by his half-sister, Ariadne, and slain by an Athenian named Theseus. However, we believe that the ferociousness, strength and perseverance shown by the demi-god liveS on within every member of the MC.
